This is an example for usage of *CONTACT_AUTOMATIC_SINGLE_SURFACE and *CONTACT_FORCE_TRANSDUCER_PENALTY keywords.

Projectile Block

A quarter of a rigid projectile impacting an energy absorbing block is modeled. The block material is defined with a strain failure criteria, at failure strain of 0.150 elements are deleted. Eroding contact is employed.

Sphere

A sphere is given an initial velocity. For its impact on a plate, surface to surface contact is specified.
