Beta examples

This folder contains problems of various complexity levels that show some capabilities that have not yet made it to an official release version. In order to run those problems, a specific beta version is often required. Such versions can be obtained through local LS-DYNA distributors. Users are encouraged to give feedback on those beta features and report errors for continuous improvement.

Advanced : Tool cooling

This example shows two different ways of solving an large cooling problem. In the first input deck set, the fluid is solved using the transient solver and the LES turbulence model, after steady state has been reached, velocity and pressure are no longer updated, allowing the conjugate heat transfer problem to proceed. In the second input deck, the steady state solver and the RANS standard k-epsilon turbulence model are used in order to reach a steady state for the fluid before solving the coupled thermal only problem.

Intermediate : Sinking Sphere

In this FSI example, a solid sphere with a density close to water is allowed to freely sink. Remeshing is triggered and the the finer mesh zone follows the sphere's displacements.

Advanced : Irregular Waves

This example shows irregular (wind induced) ocean waves impacting a pillar using the wave B.C Generator. The irregular waves use the JONSWAP spectra. Freesurface is initialized directly via keyword rather than the classic way of building the initial interface mesh.

Intermediate : Solitary wave

This example features an incoming solitary wave impacting a floating box. It directly initializes the free surface level via an initial keyword rather than the classic way of meshing the initial free surface interface.

Basics : Periodic Couette Flow

This simple example uses the classic Couette flow application to introduce the rotational periodic boundary condition feature. Both the velocity and the pressure are constrained between the two opposing faces. Non matching meshes are possible.
